About

Would you identify as a perfectionist? Do you find yourself working to a high standard and yet feeling overworked and unappreciated? Do you find it hard to relax and have downtime? Have difficulty changing “set” plans or breaking rules, especially your own? Do you consider yourself restrained or self-controlled? Do you tend to mask your inner feelings? Limit how much you share about yourself with others, even those with whom you feel connected? Do you find that, despite being around others, you feel lonely and disconnected? Feel different from others and that others don’t “get” you?
RO DBT is an evidence-based treatment targeting excessive self-control, also known as Overcontrol (OC). Overcontrol is associated with social isolation, interpersonal problems, and seems to be at the base of conditions such as anorexia nervosa and chronic depression. RO DBT promotes the development of psychological health or well-being.
Over the course of 30 weeks, you will learn to: be more receptive to feedback and open to new experiences; develop intimacy and social-connectedness (with at least one other person); more flexibly respond to an ever-changing environment; and relax and have more fun. It is the combination of these features that we believe constitute psychological well-being.
