About

The complexities of one’s identities and communities are things to be honored and affirmed. They are parts of what make you you, and they all deserve to be celebrated and invited into your therapy. My name is Shay Selden (they/she), and I’m a licensed Clinical Psychologist based in Philadelphia, PA, offering online individual therapy sessions, letters for accessing gender affirming surgery, and professional supervision and consultation. I believe that connection is a powerful source of growth and healing – connection to oneself, connection to others, and connection to one’s community.
In line with this, my approach is grounded in relational, attachment, psychodynamic, and systems theories. This means that we’ll talk about your early life, the relationships that laid the foundation for the relationships you have today, and get to know your whole story, inclusive of the communities and personal identities that have helped shape you.
Deciding to see a therapist, whether it’s your first or your tenth, is an important decision. The therapy relationship should be one which allows you to feel safe enough to explore, and courageous enough to grow. I feel privileged to be able to offer my clients that space, and am happy to provide a free phone consult to see if I may be a good fit for you.
